10/31: Updates can be found at the bottom of the this text.
Matt Case's wife, Rebecca Case, was killed in a car accident tonight in Collierville, TN. Rebecca leaves behind 9 children who she and Matt were lovingly raising. Rebecca homeschooled the children and was loved by all the communities the lives of each of the children took them to, as well as being a Christian example to young women and mothers.
Matt has immediate needs as he cares for the children in the midst of this tragedy and now has to plan ahead to care for them as a single father. Donations will help cover the needs of the family as they determine, including day to day essentials, funeral expenses, and the future needs of the 9 children.
Thank you for standing with Matt and the children during this time. Your support would mean so much.
10/31 Update: I've spoken verbally to Matt once since this happened, and not much by text. His church family, the homeschooling community, and his F3 brothers have really circled around them. They are surrounded with Christian love. In the middle of intense loss and pain, the family feels the love of the Lord towards them through His people.
When I spoke to Matt, I heard children playing in the background. A friend told me ladies from the church are helping to things like laundry - things a large family has systems in place to handle, but that they don't need to be worrying about right now.
Many are sending messages asking what they can do to help. This is my list, not the Case's:
- Pray for them. Matt needs wisdom.
- Pray for those directly ministering to the family. Pastors, community leaders, friends. May their speech be seasoned with salt. May the Holy Spirit minister through them.
- Pray for joy and peace for the family. In time of crisis, these are true gifts from the Lord, and a bastion for the Christian heart.
- Pray that every need of the family is met.
We have upped the target amount of the fundraiser. It has been a blessing to read the names and comments left by those who have given, and it is truly mind boggling. This family is loved. The story is heartbreaking, and the need is real.
