COMMUNITY FUNDS FOR THE FAMILIES ON GARFIELD ST

Officials say 46 fire and EMS personnel responded to Garfield Street in the Bronx just before 2 p.m. Friday afternoon on October 9, 2026. The blaze escalated to a second-alarm 10 minutes later. The FDNY contained the fire just before 3 p.m.

Tragedy burned down the home they lived in for years! Please keep the families of Garfield Street in your prayers. The Van Nest Neighborhood Alliance (VNNA) was formed in 2010 by Van Nest residents who wanted to do more and raise the bar on quality of life issues. It's times like these when villages unite for one another, as we had done with the families of the Mead Street fires on December 14, 2021. VNNA has reached out to this family they know and asked what they need. We'll have updates as we're informed of specific items requested by the family. Until then we are asking those that can donate to please do, so that they can start to rebuild. 100% of the donations will be given to the family. Keep your prayers coming! Blessings to all that are able to give. Thank you in advance.
