Meet my friend Rose-

A kind and loving person, her husband of 44 years is being taken away from her and forced into federal prison. His alleged crime? This former naturopathic doctor was found guilty of spreading the word about alternative treatments by offering 2 plant-based products to help boost immune health at the onset of the pandemic when the government had no suggestions for early treatment. One of these products is featured on the Federal government's own website!Https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8274222/. Did the FDA support his efforts to keep people healthy and avoid infection? No! Did the FDA send him a warning that their statutes conflicted with his actions like they have traditionally done to others? No! In an elaborate sting operation, a young FDA agent approached Rick, now working as a legal part time health coach, with a fake identity. To entrap him, the agent requested these 2 products be sent to her in another state, pretending she was a fearful single mom panicked about getting ill from the pandemic. Garlic capsules and powder made from larch tree bark can be bought and shipped anywhere in the world by Amazon, without accusation of criminal conduct. Why is Rick being jailed for this?

Now Rose faces a precarious position. Despite a pending appeal, her husband will be imprisoned without bond. She is confronted with severe financial hardship during his incarceration, threatening her simple lifestyle.

As a friend observing this astonishing process, it is hard to ignore the injustice. It seems clear to me that this gifted former ND was targeted and punished to set and example. Our federal agencies should be helping the public and not conspiring against us.

The trials:

Two trials were held, the first resulting in a hung jury with no conviction.

After the first trial, the judge waived the law shielding jurors from scrutiny and allowed prosecutors to discuss the case with the jurors-a rare, legal, but constitutionally unlawful decision to allow prosecutors to determine the weak points in their case.

The second trial saw the judge ordering the jury not to consider any argument relying on First Amendment freedom of speech (also constitutionally unlawful).

The judge also denied jurors from considering direct testimony of an esteemed Naturopathic professor from Bastyr University, one of the oldest and largest science-based natural health and research schools in the US.

These omissions virtually guaranteed a guilty conviction from the second trial.

The appeal

Rick was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison, pending appeal.

His defense attorneys requested a bond for this nonviolent offender who did no harm to continue to stay out on supervised release until the appeal hearing could be scheduled. The 9th circuit Court of Appeals denied his bond and Rick will be forced to surrender himself to federal prison, 5 days after his 70th birthday in two weeks.This surrender to prison is in place regardless of the pending appeal so he could stay in prison until the appeal hearing!

If he wins his appeal, he will be acquitted of the charges but there is no reparation for his loss of freedom, income, time with his family or abuse of dignity.

Considering the violent criminals being released into society every day, there is no sane reason to deny this harmless senior citizen and health coach his freedom.

I have been requested to put an update on this site.

Rick has been in the Sheridan Satellite Camp for 5 weeks now. We have learned that the Federal Government takes away your Social Security which was $960 for Rick. So I changed the goal to $8,000 to cover the full 7-8 months he more than likely will be in prison.

Rick is keeping up a positive attitude and has a job in the Horticulture Group, plays pickleball, reads a lot, and plays in the Sunday band.

I got a call from the National Health Federation President Scott Tips. He is wanting to write an article for his magazine on Rick.
