Advent Greetings!
December 18, 2020
Advent Greetings from Sister Anne Marie and the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Earlier this month the Retreat Chapel hosted two wonderful Advent retreats with both "in-person" and "virtual" participants. We were honored to welcome Bishop Peter Smith for the annual Advent Day Retreat on Making Advent Meaningful, as well as Dina Marie Hale speaking about Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego.
Thanks to your support we will continue to provide online and virtual opportunities for you to join us for prayer and retreats as we embark on 2021.
Stay updated on our upcoming retreats and events online at www.olpretreat.org. We are currently taking both "in-person" and "virtual" registrations for the annual Ash Wednesday Day Retreat on Feb 17, 2021.
We are grateful for your generous support of our retreat house ministry. The Sisters continue to keep you and your family in their prayers on a daily basis in their convent chapel.
Let us pray together: O Wisdom of our God Most High, guiding creation with power and love: come to teach us the path of knowledge!
With joy and peace!
Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas
Prayer Intentions & Thank You!
December 12, 2020
Dear Beloved friends, volunteers and benefactors of Our Lady of Peace Retreat:
You and your loved ones, both living and deceased, will be remembered in a Novena of Masses offered in the Sisters’ Convent Chapel beginning December 16 and concluding Christmas Eve, December 24. If you would like to send the Sisters a special prayer intention, please visit the website www.olpretreat.org/prayer-requests and you can send the Sisters your personal intentions.
Thank you for your support and prayers for all our Sisters. God Bless you!
Advent Events Update
December 11, 2020
The Sisters recently hosted two Advent retreats in December. The Advent Day retreat Dec 2nd featured Bishop Peter Smith on "Making Advent Meaningful" then Dina Marie Hale offered an Advent Twilight Talk Dec 9th on the theme: "A trek to Tepeyac Hill with Juan Diego." Both of the events featured a Virtual ZOOM option for attendance, due to current limited capacity guidelines because of COVID. With your ongoing support the Sisters will continue to make available their retreats and special events to as many participants as possible. Your donations today will help provide the additional resources needed to expand our ability to provide quality virtual events as long as they are needed. We are grateful for your generous support!
Silent Retreats Update
October 29, 2020
The Sisters recently hosted two back-to-back 4-day silent retreats with Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, the Work of the Holy Angels. This group annually hosts Silent Retreats Our Lady of Peace Retreat House in Beaverton, however this year physical distancing kept participants at a bare minimum. Each year the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows look forward to hosting this international group ordered to promote devotion to the holy angels.
It was “All Hands On Deck” as the Sisters came together serving all the meals for the retreatants. Typically, they would enjoy help from their amazing volunteers and the Franciscan Girls Club, but due to current COVID19 guidelines, they have strict limitations.
The Sisters are grateful for your prayerful and financial help during this difficult time. Revenue that would normally come from the Annual Family Barbecue, must come from other sources now.
Help the Sisters reach their goal on this GIVE SEND GO Campaign.
We are thankful for your prayers and your pledge of support.
Thank you and God Bless you!
