My name is Lindsey and my family and I moved to Myakka City with a dream: to build a generational farm that we could pass down to our children and grandchildren. We chose this land because it backs up to the beautiful Myakka State Park… a place where we could live simply, protect the land, and raise our family in peace.

What we never imagined was that massive golf courses and potential residential developments would spring up in our community, threatening the Myakka River and the rural way of life we love. Wanting to protect our home and community, I began speaking out… exercising my First Amendment right to share research, raise awareness, and voice concerns on behalf of my family and neighbors.

As a community, we came together. We collectively raised funds for “Say No to Rezone” signs, which have been displayed throughout the area for several weeks. On September 24th, Terranova itself retracted its rezoning request with Manatee County, a fact confirmed in the developer’s own public statement.

Despite this, I have now been personally served with a lawsuit from the developer. I have never made or incited any threats of violence, nor have I made the extreme claims alleged in the lawsuit. My only goal has been to advocate for my family, my neighbors and the environment we all share.

As a blue collar family, we do not have the resources to fight this legal battle alone but we do believe that standing up for our community is the right thing to do. This fundraiser will go directly toward legal fees and representation as we work to protect our family, our farm, and the environment we love.

We have always tried to be good neighbors and advocates whether for medical freedom, suicide prevention, the drug epidemic, or now for the environment in our backyard. We’ve stood up because we believe in protecting what matters. Now we humbly ask for your support.
