As more shocking info comes south out of Appalachia, many of us have heard the call to help in whatever way we can. On Monday, 10/7, I will be driving a rented Jeep up to Blountville, Tennessee to work with Fr. Matthew Williams of St. Tikhon Russian Orthodox Church. He and his parish are coordinating and providing disaster relief throughout Carter County (TN), Johnson County (TN), and Mitchell County (NC), all three of which Helene has destroyed in a truly apocalyptic fashion. Those unfortunate enough to have experienced both hurricanes have said that this is just as bad, if not worse, than Katrina. Many roads remain impassable, and SAR is still underway in many communities worst hit. Luckily, St. Tikhon's has electricity and running water and can still receive mail (Amazon link below).
Funds raised for this expedition will cover vehicle rental, gasoline and diesel, water, and equipment needed for immediate disaster relief. Members of our communities have already donated a generator and a Starlink. I will bring whatever additional donated supplies I can fit. Please refer to the Amazon link below to ship goods directly to St Tikhon's (toiletries, pop-top canned goods, toys for children, etc). Surplus funds will be passed through to both St. Tikhon's Flood Relief fund and Operation Airdrop's "Operation Helene" airlift efforts.
Details change daily, we will provide updates as we can. Click FOLLOW below to receive updates in your inbox.

Who is this? I'm Kevin Wade, a 31 year old parishioner at St Justin Martyr in Jacksonville, Florida. From a young age I have volunteered in cleanup and construction efforts including Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, Towel Ministries, and the Fuller Center for Housing in projects stretching from Texas to the Caucasus. Hurricane Harvey destroyed my grandparents' and uncle's house in Houston in 2017, and I am forever grateful to the church groups who were on the ground immediately after the disaster. Promised to pay it forward, so here we are.
Yours in Christ,
Kevin
Thank you, Kevin for your generous spirit and willingness to help others.

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated or purchased supplies! Boots on the ground are touched by your generosity, as am I. We are still slated for a Tuesday arrival in Tennessee. A cold front is projected to hit that same day, with nighttime temperatures dropping to the low 40s. If you have an extra cold weather clothing that you'd be willing to part with, please mail to:
