Over two decades ago, during my early days as a Broadway actor in the vibrant heart of New York City, I penned my thoughts. These thoughts, dormant for years, were fragments of memories from my formative years that had been deeply buried within me. Then, one fateful afternoon, during the delicate transition from the dream world of REM sleep to wakefulness, I experienced an awakening like no other. A resounding clap reverberated, and a commanding voice bellowed, "WAKE UP!!!" I sprung out of bed, compelled by an undeniable urge, and hurried to my newly acquired computer, purchased just the day before. In that moment, I etched down these words:

"I have a story to tell."

Over the course of a few days, I painstakingly unraveled the first twelve years of my life. It was a surreal and emotional experience, akin to reliving those long-forgotten moments as if they were brand new. Tears flowed, laughter echoed, and I found myself pondering the actions of others, asking, "why?" Yet, amidst the tumultuous recollections, I drew inspiration from the remarkable journey I had undertaken.

I had to pause, though, for the sheer weight of the traumatic memories I had unearthed was overwhelming. It necessitated an introspective journey to correct and refine myself, to navigate the intricacies of human interaction and existence. I shared my writings with my elder half-brother, Trey, who marveled, "I can't believe you remember all of that; there's so much you don't recall."

This process proved to be therapeutic, as it liberated my thoughts from the confines of my mind and materialized them on paper—a profoundly empowering moment. It was here that I confronted my deepest fear: myself. Through this cathartic process, I discovered the transformative power of forgiveness. To move forward in life as a whole and healthy individual, I had to extend forgiveness not only to those who had harmed me externally but also to myself. Questions about my purpose, the reasons for my past experiences, my true identity, and even my paternal lineage began to surface.

At that time, I wasn't prepared to share my story with the world, feeling that it was an incomplete narrative with unresolved inner conflicts. I was also seeking a catalyst in my career as a performer—a shot at notoriety, a Tony, a Grammy, an Emmy, an Oscar, or perhaps the sale of ten million records worldwide, or even a bestselling book. Life, however, unfolded in ways different from my aspirations, yet I found myself in the intriguing domain of D-list celebrityhood, or so it seems. It is my hope that you, too, will find my journey, "HisStory," equally captivating.

**About "HisStory: The Novel"**

"HisStory" traces James' remarkable journey as an award-winning singer, living the dreams of a lifetime—travelling the globe, winning reality TV competitions, headlining in Las Vegas, gracing the Broadway stage, and sharing zany encounters with prominent figures in pop culture. However, beneath these glittering achievements lies a harrowing narrative of abandonment and brutal abuse endured during James' early years in foster care, from ages one to five. In that period, he was rendered mute, unable to cry or speak, subjected to unspeakable torment.

The odds were stacked against "Lil James," his childhood nickname, from the very beginning—a silent, peculiar child in poverty, who discovered solace in singing. Through finding his voice, he defied the statistics often associated with melanated individuals growing up in America.

In more recent times, James found himself entangled in a tumultuous ordeal that began with his arrest and subsequent charges, allegedly linked to the events of January 6, 2021,on the US Capitol in Washington, D.C., This story catapulted him into the international spotlight, painting him as a violent domestic extremist and exacting a heavy toll on his life—a toll that included the loss of his dream job, his career, and his reputation.

James became the focal point of intense media scrutiny, a thorough government investigation, and a global humiliation that has persisted for two long years. In the end, James emerged victorious, acquitted of all charges. Now, he stands on the threshold of a new chapter in my life.

This aftermath of the J6 nightmare has left him grappling with the modern-day equivalent of a scarlet letter, forever associated with the events of January 6th. Despite these challenges, James is determined to rebuild his life and move forward.

The aim of this book is to impart joy through laughter, inspire through struggle, and connect hearts and minds, uniting us all through forgiveness, love, self-reflection, self-correction, and resilience. Our individual histories, "HisStory" and "HerStory," are the keys to forging collective peace.

This story has been years in the making—a journey that is both captivating and powerful, funny and magical, inspirational and profoundly human. It is a testament to the indomitable spirit that surmounts even the most daunting odds.
