Helene Recovery Coalition is advocating in support of over 80+ families in Western North Carolina, including in Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties. These families have had their home water supply damaged by Helene related flooding and devastation, and are in process of rebuilding. This project prioritizes support for seniors, disabled, families, veterans, and first responders. Some homes are multi-generational, hosting family members who have lost their homes, and some are living in RVs and temporary housing during recovery. Helene Recovery Coalition is supporting these community members in home water testing, working with municipal and county environmental health offices, and seeking means to restore their livelihoods. So far, donors have generously provided in-kind gifts including LifeStraw Community Water towers, and Lucinn shower heads.

We also welcome support for water testing, which is at a cost when working with certified labs through many of the municipal and county government offices, or when purchasing supplies online for independent home testing. 

We visit with community members personally and assist directly in this process.
