Dear friends and family,

Heather is a thoughtful, brave and kind friend. She is an accomplished volleyball player, guiding mother of three (to Quinn, Sawyer, and Gracen), loving wife (to Josh), and tenderhearted friend. She is a selfless individual: the one planning the meals for those in need, organizing care gifts for pastors, encouraging a friend when they need it.

Sadly, this wonderful friend is currently fighting for her life. In October, while at the hospital for the birth of her third child, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Further evaluation identified the breast cancer as a rare and aggressive type, which has rapidly spread throughout her body to her lymph nodes, lungs, and bones.

As one can imagine, this shocking diagnosis has created physical and financial challenges for the Ward family. Unexpected medical expenses are growing due to specialist visits, medical bills, new medications and cancer therapies. Therefore, this Give.Send.Go account has been created to help ease the financial burden that is expanding to pay for Heather’s treatment.

This message is a call for help, a request to assist Heather and her family in this fight against breast cancer. Please consider giving to help meet the Ward family’s mounting financial needs. Please share this link with others to join in the fight for Heather and her family.

Also, most importantly, please lift Heather and her family up in prayer. May we reach out to God and ask for: comfort in this trying time, for peace in this physically and emotionally painful process, and for Heather to experience complete healing from the cancer that is devastating her body.

"May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."

Update #4

Heather was able to have her 3rd chemo treatment on January 7.  The chemo takes it toll but she was able to visit with her kids this past Sunday.  Our kids are currently living with my parents so that is a difficult set of circumstances.  The catheter that was put in to remove lung fluid has eliminated weekly admissions to the hospital.  We are grateful for that.  She will have her 4th chemo treatment this Thursday, January 14 and then the plan is to do a PETScan  to determine the success of the chemo.  We continue to be amazed at the love, support and kindnesses of people some of whom we don’t even know.  The prayer web is huge!  Thank you all!

Not much to update other than Heather is at least NOT in the hospital. But we missed her chemo appointment yesterday because she was so sick. The fluid element is less of an issue now that she as a drain but the pain she has from the cancer specifically in her rib bones is significant. It's painful to watch as you don't want to give her too many meds but then the pain is otherworldly. You then give her the prescribed meds and she's on another planet which I know she hates. Please pray that she makes the chemo appointment tomorrow.

Thank you for the outpouring of love...cards, meals, prayers and donations have been greatly appreciated; our hearts are filled with gratitude.

Heather's cancer has caused a pleural effusion which has resulted in a great deal of pain in her lung and rib cage. Her lung has previously been drained twice and again today.

We welcome continued prayers for hope and healing. God has surrounded us with many ministering angels.

God bless you for your goodness. Merry Christmas, Heather and Josh

Update #1

Heather spent the weekend in the hospital with fluid in her lungs.  This is the second time this health event has occurred in the last couple of weeks so we're working to correct that.  Thank you for your continued prayers as we navigate these obstacles.
