In May of 2022, I got medically retired from the Air Force, after ten years of active duty. I was able to parley my experience as a military electrician into getting a civilian journeyman's license, but the work in my area has been really sporadic. Either I'd be going long stretches without consistent work, or taking jobs well outside my local area, having to be away from my wife (and now son) for long periods of time.

Now, I have successfully obtained a government job as an electrician back in Alaska, my other home state. Steady work, steady hours, good pay and benefits, and I get to be home with Emma and Baby Jerry at the end of the day. The best possible job I could get in my career field! I officially start April 22nd. All I have to do is get up there.

Only problem with that is, I'm officially bled dry. Right around the time I got officially hired, Emma gave birth to our son Jerry. I managed to make it from Montana to Phoenix in time for the birth, but medical expenses, breakdowns, and getting our house ready to sell have absolutely eaten our savings. My brothers have offered to convoy north with me to get our stuff moved, but I'm going to have to cover food, fuel, and hotels for the weeklong, 2,500-mile journey. I'm going to have to get a storage unit for our possessions until I can get another place. And of course, I'll have to pay for Emma and Baby Jerry's incidentals while they're at her parent's place. They're willing to help, but they're also limited by their bank account balances, much as I am.

I really hate having to ask, but....folks, we need your help. And would be awfully grateful for any help that y'all provide.
