My name is David Laue. I serve as pastor for two small congregations in East Grand Forks, Minnesota and Grand Forks, North Dakota. Our congregations are small and in the current economic situation we are compelled to seek avenues of assistance to prevent our ministry to our members and communities from closing. We do not do this lightly but appeal to fellow Christians as the apostle Paul did in seeking assistance for the poor saints in Jerusalem (1 Cor. 16:1–4; 2 Cor 8:1–9:15; Rom 15:14–32). Further, our Lord invites us to carry one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2) and whatever needs we have to ask (Matt. 7:7; James 4:2c).
Our congregations believe, teach and confess God’s Word in all its truth and purity. We are traditional, liturgical congregations who seek to provide a safe harbor and a firm anchor in the midst of so many changes in society that are dangerous and deny the authority of God’s Word over all aspects of life. In the midst of such changing societal approaches to life issues we seek to follow God’s Word in all matters related to our life as God’s people.
We believe that the nuclear family is comprised of one man united in marriage to one woman. This union, established by God (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:18-24), is the foundation for the procreation of children and their nurture and admonition in the Lord (Eph. 6:4). We value life from its conception to its natural end. We believe as children of God that we are to live our lives in accord with His will revealed to us in His holy Word.
We further believe that we are to speak up when our leaders seek to go against what God’s Word says (Acts 5:29), hold them accountable for their actions, words and policies, and do all we can within the law to influence and promote a return to the values and morals that God establishes. We know we are a remnant but we believe that our society needs to hear what God desires of people. And we seek to promote and demonstrate the blessings that God gives as we seek His will.
All of this and more we are trying to accomplish in these communities. We want to be the congregations set on the hill whose light shines brightly in a dark world that others may see the true Light (John 8:12) and be drawn to its safety and security and to life in Christ (Matt. 5:14-16). And we seek to be salt in a society that is decaying to prevent further decline and preserve and improve life for all (Matt. 5:13).
First we ask for your prayers that God would bless His Word in these communities and cause it to accomplish His will and achieve His purposes (Isaiah 55:10-11). Secondly, as you are able, we ask you to prayerfully consider a financial contribution to fund this ministry with which we have been entrusted so that we may continue to be the voice of one calling out in the wilderness of our community, summoning people to repent and rejoice in the Good News of Jesus who forgives sin and blesses us to be a blessing to others (Matt. 3:2). Your prayers and support will enable us to keep our doors open for another year, allow us to make much needed structural repairs, and provide funding to purchase equipment to make our services and message available via the internet to an even larger group.
Just wanted to donate some money again. :’) Praying for no closure for the best church.
