We need your assistance as the costs of a J6 Family are mounting.

Love God, Love People, Live Generously. That is our family motto. Not much can prepare a family that is seemingly receiving so much joy from God's grace and living to serve here, near, and far. Our family comes from modest beginnings as Frank and I met in high school and later worked together at the local small town hardware store. As a manager, Frank has always been a man of integrity as we couldn't start dating if we were working together.

Now 20 years of marriage later and three beautiful daughters, we have so much to be thankful for. Frank started as a volunteer firefighter at our hometown fire district as just one more thing to add to the resume. Like working two jobs and going to community college wasn't enough. We remodeled a small home that needed a lot of love, and had our first daughter Abbi. He quickly got hired and promoted multiple times at a large Seattle area fire department. Teaching at the state fire academy for 10 years, he was definitely the committed fire science professional. It was about the time ON and not about the time OFF. Becoming one of the highest certified fire officers at his department, he found the definition of success was the success of those around him. A true servant leader.

During the start of the covid years, Frank worked with some of the first covid patients when we had no idea the impacts. Wanting to protect his patients and provide for workplace safety, he crafted protocols and advocated for workplace practices to prevent exposures. Always a student of the science, Frank felt it was his responsibility to speak up for those who could not speak for themselves. Frank was the grievance committee chair for his IAFF Union for 10 years. A hard position fighting for fair treatment of others when they were being targeted. When the covid vaccine mandate was implemented through a proclamation of the governor of Washington, Frank knew his calling as a Christian Firefighter was larger than a role locally. He helped organize over 500 firefighters across the state to educate and advocate for religious exemptions and accommodations through Title VII protections. The group was credited with saving approximately 1,000 paid firefighter jobs in the State of Washington. His fire chief unfortunately implemented a "vax or fire" policy which led to the loss of over 190 years of experienced firefighters. The temporary emergency declaration came and went, but the firings for not complying with the vaccine policy was permanent. Standing up for others and standing up for our religious freedoms became a way of life. As he leads our family, Frank says, "If we celebrated the doors that God opens, we must also acknowledge the doors He closes. We are called to have faith that God will provide and will open another."

And that is just what happened as blind faith led us to Montana. Frank was awarded the position of Fire Chief at one of the largest and busiest volunteer fire districts in the State of Montana. He is always prepared and trained for the biggest emergencies and was always ready to jump in to help others. Now with this new endeavor, it seemed like God's providence that our family was now at a new home as a fourth generation Montanan.

It has been an amazing journey watching my husband get baptized in his uniform, knowing he needed God's strength to lead responders into emergencies. After almost 2 decades of serving his community, he has seen some of people's darkest moments yet witnessing the most amazing miracles. Things I could not do justice trying to explain as his stories are unbelievable. He has served as a wildland fire strike team/task force leader on some of the largest urban interface fires across the states of Washington, Oregon, and California. Leading brush trucks and fire engines into burning neighborhoods as fire devastates communities was some of the most scariest moments for me. Frank knew not to tell me all the details of the close calls but I knew he was well trained, made good decisions under pressure, and wouldn't risk his crews for something that wasn't savable. He says it's not just a job but a calling and I know that is true as he has endured many infant deaths, horrifying car crashes, and many near miss fatality fires. God seems to put him in just the right places at just the right times.

That has all changed now. As of January of 2024, my husband of 20 years, firefighter of 20 years, & father of three wonderful daughters, was arrested as part of the January 6th rally investigation. FBI agents arrived at his headquarters fire station mid-morning, leaving the district, a community of 20,000, without their primary first responder for the day and future to come. Frank the Fire Chief, our family's sole provider for many years, now awaits the judicial process. We anticipate a long road ahead with an unknown timeline for completion. The job is gone, the sense of duty crushed, and our family awaits the untold cost.
