In April of 2020, my beloved Aunt, Denise Allen, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She then began her intense battle with cancer (chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery) for over two years, ending with what we thought was a victory.
In early 2024, Denise's routine blood work began showing signs of tumor markers. She has now been diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer. There is no cure, but with treatment, the hope is to send her into remission for as long as possible.
She is receiving treatment 3/week near Vancouver, BC, a 7-hour drive plus a ferry ride away from home. For this reason, they have found temporary housing close to the clinic for the duration of the treatment (3 months). Their monthly expenses for treatment, temporary housing, and extra travel are costing them thousands of dollars per month.
We are reaching out to our community at this time to help lift the financial burden so that Denise, along with her loving husband and two sons, can focus their energy on the fight of her life.

February 2025 Update
February 18th, 2025
Denise is in Florida for a week - but this ain't no vacation. It came to their attention earlier this month that what was assumed to be a slow growing cancer in her thyroid was actually most likely an extremely rare and aggressive cancer (Hurthle Cell Carcinoma). Although aggressive, it is curable but with a catch - it has to be all be removed the first try (so that there is no spread). Whether this surgery is successful or not basically hinges on the competency of the surgeon.
With much thought, prayer and research, Darren and Denise decided that their best chance of getting it right the first try was to see the highest qualified surgeon for this specific cancer - Dr. Gary Clayman in Tampa, Florida. Her surgery is scheduled for February 19 at 5:30AM EST (2:30AM PST).
Today, she received results from her liver biopsy which was performed in Vancouver, BC a few weeks ago. It has confirmed Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in her liver. Treatment for this is temporarily on pause as she undergoes and recovers from the thyroid surgery.
Please uplift Denise in prayer for the thyroid surgery happening tomorrow.
