Roxbury, NJ parents, Kristen Cobo and Christina Balestriere stood up when the Roxbury school library began promoting sexually explicit books to children.
After becoming aware of a multitude of sexually explicit, vulgar books available to minor children in their public school district, these parents followed the appropriate steps to address their concerns. After speaking with the librarian and district administration proved to be ineffective, these mothers began speaking at Roxbury Board of Education meetings regarding their concerns; providing evidence as to why these books are inappropriate and pose a risk to the safety of minors.
In response to the concerns raised by these parents, the school librarian doubled down and promoted these books, tweeting from the Roxbury Media’s page about “banned books week”, encouraging students to read these books.
We understand that this case can lay the groundwork that protects other parents from having this happen to them in the future and want to help in any way possible. This case has not been dismissed as of May 23, 2023 and as a result, Kristen and Christina's legal fees are growing.
This fundraiser is organized by Coyle Law Group, P.C., attorneys representing Kristen & Christina. All funds donated will go to their legal defense.
I’m so sorry you have this burden.
Keep the faith!
We support both of you to express our strong support for the fight to protect and strengthen parents' rights in shaping their children's education and upbringing. As parents, we are the primary advocates for our children, and we have an inherent right to be involved in decisions that affect their development, education, and well-being. Keep Fighting! Mark & Donna Williams
Keep your chins up
Keep up the good work!!
Best of luck and thank you for your courage.
Stay strong!
Thank you for fighting this battle.
Good luck in this fight. Thanks for your commitment.
I was not born and raised in this country nor do I have children or grandchildren to be worried about but this is an issue that affects us all, from social and spiritual perspectives.
Keep up the good work in speaking out for the safety of the children!

I hate to have to say this, but please don't post comments pretending to be someone else. There is a fake post supposedly from Roxana Caivano. I have been contacted by her attorney and advised that this is not from her. So to whoever posted pretending to be her, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN. This is a lawsuit about alleged defamatory statements made. Nobody wants to see these claims expand further.

It has been quiet with updates here because the process of discovery in a lawsuit is often a slow drip. Not any more.
We had been trying to take the librarian's deposition SINCE AUGUST 2024! Every time we scheduled her deposition or her husband's deposition, it was cancelled and rescheduled, cancelled and rescheduled...over and over. Finally, when they couldn't hide any more, she filed a motion to try and prevent me from deposing her in person and prevent Kristen and Christina from attending--as is their legal right! (If you want to make a joke about a NJEA member preferring to hide behind zoom instead of being face to face....I won't stop you) :)
This is not an exaggeration; from their motion: "since this case has involved heightened emotions, virtual depositions will have the effect of eliminating the inevitable unpleasantness that will likely arise."
Unpleasantness? Does anyone remember Roxanna and her husband/lawyer yelling at parents attending a school board meeting, literally running up and screaming in their faces and actually hitting the parents' signs? We sure do. It seems odd that the same librarian hitting parent's protest signs is afraid of the "unpleasantness" of being questioned in her attorney's office.
On March 28, 2025 the Judge was buying none of her excuses:
"No good cause shown for a protective order."
He then ordered:
"Plaintiff Roxana M. Russe Caivano shall appear in-person for her deposition either at her counsel's office, or at the office of counsel for movant (at her choice) within 21 days from the date of this Order at a date scheduled by counsel for movant."
Let's get ready!!!!! Deposition on April 17th and April 18th!!! I can't wait!

I've received requests for a link to see the claims we filed against Plaintiff and her attorney/ husband. This document is on the Court's website, but there is no direct link. I have attached a googledrive link to the document.
