This year has been a hard hitting emotional, psychological, physical and financial burden for Dave and Carol. First, this summer our area experienced two simultaneous fast-moving wildfires that destroyed over 800 homes, including theirs. They barely escaped with their lives and what little they could grab on the way out the door. The home they had worked so hard to be able to live out their latter years in was now nothing but burned, indistinguishable rubble, in addition to the beautiful pine trees that once covered their property. Along with everything in their home, Dave lost most of his guitar collection from being a professional musician all of his life. His early career was highlighted by being a lead guitar player and vocalist with the well-known Delbert McClinton for over 20 years. After moving to New Mexico, Dave continued performing at local venues and fundraisers for those in need. His most recent musical benevolence was to visit an elderly longtime resident without family who was in hospice care. Just a few days later, the gentleman passed and Dave's visit left our community comforted knowing that one of the man's favorite musicians cared enough to take time to sing for him personally. Even after losing everything to the fires, Dave continued to play and offer hope to our community that we could all recover and rebuild.
