Supporting the Conlon Family

The father of these amazing children, Josh Conlon, was in a motorcycle accident April 16, 2024. He sustained injuries to his spine and is paralyzed from the chest down. His wife, Sarah, is a stay-at-home mom who homeschools their six children. If the shock and grief were not enough, they are now facing the devastating challenge of extensive medical bills and complete loss of income. Please be generous with your prayers, even if you can not be generous with financial support. May God bless and reward you!

Update #3

June 15th, 2024

Josh continues his very difficult path forward. Though overwhelming, Josh is determined, with the grace of God, to achieve the best possible outcome of his condition. His spirits are good and he remains positive.

The ventilator has been removed, and the tracheotomy has closed on its own. He is breathing well, speaking well, and is able to eat and drink by mouth again. The pneumonia has cleared. Last week, the cast on his right arm was taken off and though weak from surgical recovery, he now can use both arms in therapy. Everyone is confident that Josh will be able to regain most if not full range, thru therapy in his dominant hand. He is doing both physical and occupational therapy,  progress is slow and steady, but still progress. Little Liam helped toss an exercise ball to Josh in therapy the other day. It was sweet to see.  We celebrate these advances, and for these blessings the family is most grateful.

The children are in good spirits, and look forward to visiting Dad. Thank goodness for the resiliency of children! Sarah is buried in paperwork and phone calls, but is always uplifted by everyone’s prayers, kind gestures and support.

The rehab process for Josh, will be extensive. Josh needs to wear a full hard-shell (front and back) brace whenever he is out of bed till the end of July. Transfers are difficult and much care is needed to keep the spinal cord rods and screws in proper alignment and the spine healing after surgery. Another challenge is that his blood pressure has been low while his heart rate is high, and these are not stabilizing.

The family continues to be so very grateful for all the support, the concern, and the outpouring of prayers from so many corners of our world. Please continue to remember Josh and his family in your prayers. As believers of Jesus Christ and His promises, we don't believe in miracles, we depend on them!

Update #2

April 30th, 2024

Prayers are needed. Josh has struggled with breathing issues. The back surgery seems to have been successful. They were hoping to get him off the ventilator but he developed pneumonia. They have postponed a possible tracheotomy hoping that he will recover without it. He had surgery yesterday for the wrist and was in excruciating pain all night. Both lungs are collapsed now. It has been an exhausting journey for the whole family and is far from over. The prayers and support have been a big consolation. Thank you everyone for continuing to pray.

Update #1

April 20th, 2024

Many, many thanks for the outpouring of generous concern and support for the Conlon family. The latest that I have heard on Josh's condition is that he was airlifted from their small hospital to a facility with higher level care. The plan was for him to have surgery to stabilize the spinal fracture that is between T5 & T7. Since there were also crushing fractures of eight ribs on one side and four on the other, he was on a ventilator because it was difficult for him to breath. Doctors found a hematoma in his chest. They removed it and he had a lung infusion. This morning I heard that he was in surgery for the spinal fracture. Hopefully, after this he will be able to sit up and that will take some pressure off his breathing. He also fractured his dominant hand and will need to have subsequent surgeries to repair.

The family is moved by the kindness and help that they continue to receive. It has been harrowing, especially for the children seeing their dad unrecognizably bruised and on a ventilator. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.
