Caleb Devereaux Jr, affectionately known as Junior, has faced adversity since birth. As a baby, we discovered that Junior could not hear, but thanks to technology, he received hearing aids at 2 years old! Even though he has hearing aids, he still prefers to use sign language to communicate clearly. However, Junior, now 10 years old, is facing a bigger battle - Acute Myeloid Leukemia!

At the beginning of December, Junior was constantly sick. He was in and out of the emergency room and the doctor’s office. On Wednesday, December 14th, Junior’s pediatrician called and asked us to take Junior to the ER because his blood work was showing some concern. That night, Junior had a blood transfusion and was transferred to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas where he had additional blood transfusions and surgery. On December 18th, Junior was diagnosed with Leukemia and is in the process of being transferred to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Ft Worth where he will undergo chemotherapy for at least the next month.

We are asking for donations since Vanessa, Junior’s mom, will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. Vanessa has been by Junior’s side since the onset of his illness and plans to remain in Ft. Worth while Junior undergoes chemo. Any donations will be used to help with living expenses, basic needs, food, and travel expenses for Junior’s two sisters to visit him in the hospital from Abilene.
