Shade for Children is on a mission to bring joy, love, and unforgettable experiences to orphaned and vulnerable children in Western Ukraine. We've been making a difference both before and during the ongoing war, and now, we need your support to continue spreading smiles.

Founders Clinton and Lena White led camps for more than a decade before founding Shade for Children in 2019 as a beacon of hope for children in need. We're not just a charity; we're a 501(c)3 organization in the U.S. and a Ukrainian Charity Fund, committed to making a lasting impact.

For several years, we've relied on the generosity of our community during the year-end giving season to fund our camps, typically held in June and July. Early funding in January and February is crucial to secure stunning camp locations, such as the picturesque mountainside site we utilized in 2023 and 2024.

Our Mission: Unite churches and communities to cherish orphaned and vulnerable children.

At Shade for Children, diversity is a strength. Approximately 50% of our camp attendees come from local foster and adoptive families, a local orphanage, and social service referrals. The remaining 50% is comprised of enthusiastic kids from local churches partnering with us. Together, they create a vibrant and inclusive camp atmosphere.

In 2022, amid the early months of the war, we opened our doors to internally displaced (IDP) families, providing solace and support. Partnering with OpSafe, we implemented a trauma-informed curriculum, ensuring these children received the care they deserved. Since then, we've continued to incorporate elements of OpSafe's trauma-informed lessons.

A typical camp day is packed with activities that foster growth, camaraderie, and pure joy. From morning exercises to evening worship, our schedule includes engaging sessions, games, free time, and even late-night activities like dances and contests.

We're seeking to raise $6000 to provide 1-2 weeks of summer camp at a minimal expense to families. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of these children, creating memories that last a lifetime.
