Mr. Nathan Morris was a family man first and foremost. He was active in the community and ran for the Canton School Board recently. On August 10, 2024, he was walking in his neighborhood with his family when another neighbor became angry with them. He sent his family ahead and try to calm things down, but the neighbor came out with a gun. Surviving are his wife and two children. He will be missed by the hundreds of people who knew him, loved him, and enjoyed his can-do spirit and strong focus on the work and responsibilities, which he took on at the cost of precious family time, especially reading to his children at bedtime. The outpouring of generosity of the campaign has been far beyond our expectations. We set a goal of $25,000 as a reach goal, and the community has responded overwhelmingly and smashed through it on the 12th of August. At this time, we have now raised the goal to $50,000 in case anyone might think they are no longer allowed to give above the $25,000 mark. Thank you again everyone for this outpouring of support for the Morris family. I am calling the family every few days to ask them to give me information so that I can transfer the funds, but at the same time respecting their space as they grieve before pivoting to receiving this endowment. I will keep updating you from time to time until the transfer is complete.
