In September 2021, Lori Swartz, a Certified Nurse Assistant who had worked at Valley Health System (VHS) for over two decades, lost her job after requesting a religious accommodation to her employer’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Valley Health denied her request despite granting accommodations for hundreds of others.
Lori's case is about more than a single person losing her job; it is about standing up for the right to freely express and practice one’s faith without fear of losing one’s livelihood. Lori believes in the sanctity of her body as a temple of the Holy Spirit, and she refused the vaccine and mandatory testing as a matter of deep faith. She has since filed a lawsuit against Valley Health, demanding accountability for their discriminatory refusal to accommodate her religious beliefs. The case is currently on appeal before the Virginia Court of Appeals.
We are raising funds to cover the legal fees and expenses necessary to bring this case to justice. By supporting Lori, you are standing with her in defending religious liberty and ensuring that no one is forced to choose between their faith and their career. Your contributions will help cover attorney fees, court costs, and other necessary expenses related to her fight.
Every donation, big or small, will make a difference. Together, we can help Lori fight for her rights and pave the way for others to do the same.
