Fourteen-year-old Taylor Sookra, a healthy and bright young student at Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn, tragically passed away on Christmas Day, 2021, due to myocarditis after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Despite low risks of COVID-19 in healthy teenage girls and knowledge of myocarditis risks associated with the vaccine, Berkeley Carroll mandated vaccination for its students, denying Taylor her right to bodily integrity and informed choice. Pressured by the mandate, Taylor received the vaccine, fell ill, and passed away shortly after.
Now, Taylor’s father, Arthur Sookra, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Berkeley Carroll, Pfizer, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, seeking accountability for their actions and justice for Taylor’s untimely death. This case highlights critical issues of informed consent, medical choice, and corporate and institutional responsibility.
