Case Summary

Most Canadian workers willingly pay into Employment Insurance (E.I.), under the promise of 'temporary income support' if they have 'Just Cause' when their employment ends – which includes situations where employers act 'contrary to law' or make 'significant changes' to the employment contracts.  (EI Act §29(c))  But during the pandemic, many thousands of Claimants were wrongly denied these Benefits because of: ①  secret & discriminatory E.I. rule changes, ②  legally-flawed, prewritten Tribunal Decision Templates, ③  various engineered Adjudicative procedural errors & abuses, and ④  employers who broke both laws & contracts with impunity.

Now, one landmark case currently before the Federal Court of Appeal (D.A. v. Canada [AG]) is exposing these systemic, engineered injustices, and is seeking to restore the Rule of Law & Procedural Fairness across Canada.

J4EIM is a grassroots, crowd-sourced, public awareness campaign that is taking on Canada’s E.I. system to:

   • Expose secret policy changes that stripped workers of their legal protections.

   • Challenge the unlawful ‘Misconduct’ label used to wrongly deny E.I. Benefits.

   • Hold culpable institutions Accountable for breaking various laws and contracts.

   • Restore both Fairness & Trust for Canadians who currently pay into the Program.

But three-year+ legal battles at this level come with significant costs: countless research hours, Court filing & open records fees, various legal costs, outreach & technology expenses, and this ongoing public awareness campaign.  All while the bank is trying to repossess our family home.  We rely on community support to share this vital information and keep this fight alive for all Canadians...
