Tony’s Place in Caissie Cape, NB opened for business in 1932. An historical place recognized by the community to be a unique and nostalgic place of gathering serving a ‘niche’ market (no other takeout/restaurant in the area) and stands strong with a spirit of community. The community continues to recognize the establishment as a place of gathering where friends and family meet at the beach and where delicious foods is prepared and served by Chef Lucia Richardson (owner).

The sense of community spirit at Tony’s Place reign strong still to this day. The store and takeout services offered to the community for decades has come to a halt because of the government regulations requirements associated with the requirement for a new sewage disposal system. The system is needed to secure the NB Service Health Class IV Food permit and resume services and offerings at Tony’s Place.

After extensive exploratory efforts invested with engineers (4) and septic installers (2) including various available technologies (3), it was revealed that the soil drainage and land dimensions limitations dictate the need for an advanced engineered septic system to be installed, as per Service NB regulations. Failure to do so will force owner to remain close. The cost for such a system has been evaluated and estimated by the septic installer to exceed the $100K mark. Actions and efforts invested by owners for financing the needed new system falls short by $60K. As such, the crowdfunding goal set is to extend the invitation for donations to be made in hope to help capture the needed $60K missing to ensure the needed new septic systems. The funds will ensure business continuity at Tony’s Place and ensure that the community of Caissie Cape NB is served again for generations to come.
