Hi, I am Juliet Hughes. I live in Eastern Oregon. I have had the great honor to work with Julius Gumisiriza from Kabale, Uganda, helping to publish his book. Julius is wise and resourceful, honest and trustworthy.

Not only does he support his own young family; he also shelters a couple widows and a handful of orphans. The family already has a nut frying business, they make snacks and sell them to markets. They are very close to planting a food forest, but funds are tight, and he has, of course, come up with a plan.

He has an opportunity to start a landscaping business and has some prospective clients already lined up. He desires a simple gas-powered grass trimmer. Although the machine is relatively a small amount in the US ... it is prohibitively expensive in Uganda. To put things in context, the grass trimmer costs more than a half a semester at University in Uganda.

He has a friend in Kampala who has scoped out the offerings in the shops there. We are seeking to raise $450 ... $350 for the trimmer, $50 for travel funds to go fetch the trimmer and the other $50 for fuel to start off.

While it would be FANTASTIC if one individual or a family could cover the whole cost, my goal is to encourage a large group or maybe a class to partner with and support Julius and his family. He has Great things planned and is a Very Hard worker.
