On Monday, August 1, 2022 Guy Reffitt received a sentence for his participation in the January 6, 2021 protest at the US Capitol in Washington DC by US District Judge Dabney Friedrich. His sentence is to serve 87 months (7.25 years) in prison, to be followed up with 3 years of supervised release.

While this sentencing was a win in regards to the Judge rejecting the prosecution's recommended upward departure for a "Terrorism" enhancement (15 Years or more!), this is still a solemn reminder of just how politicized the J6 cases have become. Judge Friedrich is one of the few Trump-appointed judges involved in these cases, yet she still imposed a very lengthy term for a J6 Defendant who was never accused or charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, entering the Capitol on that day, nor vandalizing/destroying property.
