About The Lord's Work

The Journey

Jonathan Morris is the real deal .. a devout follower of Jesus Christ holding to the commandments of God, biblical truth, and His call to service.

His father born to a Christian missionary family called to India where they served the Lord 47 years, Jonathan is a bible worker, preacher, evangelist, and missionary himself and has been for decades, with a true heart for evangelism and the less fortunate. At age 16, Jonathan's father returned to the states, eventually marrying and starting a family. Though Jonathan was baptized at an early age, he got into drugs and alcohol for a period of his life and wasn't until age 34 when he says he finally "fell in love with Jesus" and was delivered.

An extremely hard worker like his dad, Jonathan has worked as a logger, tree trimmer, roofer, construction contractor, and over-the-road hauler. He's also started and run several businesses ... roofing, building contractor, trash hauling, snow removal, and so forth. Eventually marrying but taking every opportunity to open the Bible to people and bring them to Christ, he, throughout the 90s, opened his home to help rehab drug and alcohol addicts, teaching them trades and skills and giving them jobs, allowing the Lord to use and guide him as He would.

In 2006 he was called to Barranquilla, Colombia, where he got a drug rehab program up and running, able to house up to 12 addicts at any given time; its first director having gone through the program himself. Jonathan then returned to the states to raise funds but continued to return to Barranquilla every year through 2009. In 2008 they established a bakery to provide skills for the residents and help fund the program.

Called to Africa in 2012, Jonathan developed a project in a small rural Ghanaian village. First conceived as a drug and alcohol rehab program it transitioned to help single mothers (typically widows) w/ shelter and various trade skills. Building a self sustaining off-grid farming operation w/ solar electric, water well, and indoor plumbing, the project has also funded the formal schooling of many young people to better their lives, all the while providing a biblical foundation and Christian guidance. At least two of whom have completed nursing training and entered into that field.

When his visa's run out, Jonathan returns to the states, traveling all over the country to fundraise, guest preach at various churches, and maintain contact with his many friends and supporters. As a vegan always with a mind for simple living and economy, he camps and lives out of his car when not invited in by church members and supporters. Visiting people he led to Christ (in some cases decades before), Jonathan stays in touch by phone, mail, and personal visits, or online Bible studies. He fully goes where the Spirit leads him to find new friends, converts, and disciples for Christ, practicing what the apostle James described as 'pure religion'... "to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

His needs today are especially earmarked for the Colombia project. Having gone through 3 directors over the years, with the last one now passed away, leaving the aging wife to manage alone, Jonathan recently returned for 3 weeks, finding the drug rehab program and bakery effectively inoperative. Though the building is in serious need of repair, some 60 children of drug-addicted parents are still being fed there on a weekly basis on donations and food provided by the local Christian community.

As it stands today the prayerful intent of and desire for this campaign is to raise funds to:

- expand and revitalize the program

- repair building

- acquire equipment for popsicle manufacturing and sales operation w/ separate existing building possibly available for this use

- find IT/website and marketing help

And looking down the road:

- acquire some land outside of Barrinquilla (population 1.2 million) more conducive to healthy lifestyles, away from the corrupting influences of urban life where gardening, farming and other enterprises could be developed for self sustaining Godly family living.
