On October 23rd, a devastating tragedy struck our community when Vira, a beloved wife, loving mother, dearest mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, and faithful member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carnegie, was suddenly taken from us. She was tragically hit by a car, leaving behind a heartbroken family and a sudden void in our church.

Vira was a beacon of light to everyone who met her during her brief couple years in the USA. Her smile could brighten the darkest of days, and her joyful personality was infectious. She lived her faith with kindness, humility, grace, and with a tangible joy which made others strive to be better, all without ever having to say much.

Vira leaves behind her beloved husband, her daughter and son-in-law, and two elderly parents who remain in Ukraine. Now, in the wake of this unexpected tragedy, her family faces the overwhelming task of not only grieving her loss but also managing the finances of an unexpected funeral and caring for her loved ones at home in war-torn Ukraine.

As a community, we have the opportunity to come together and honor Vira’s memory by supporting her family during this incredibly difficult time. We are asking for donations to help cover the costs of her funeral and to offer relief to her family as they navigate this painful journey.
