My name is Kristin and I am reaching out for help. My Dad is very ill; he’s had a liver transplant, been in rejection for a couple of years, and then there's the stage 5 kidney failure, as well as him having to do dialysis five days a week. 

My Mom is his sole caretaker and has had to take leave from her job for the period of April 15th through July 12th for medical training required for her to continue to take care of him. Due to this requirement, it has put a huge financial strain on them.  

Since her leave, they have been unable to pay their bills. My mom applied for FMLA and short-term disability through her job. The short-term disability was denied, but FMLA was approved. With that being said, she has no pay for the period she had to be away for the required medical training; however, her job is secure. 

Unfortunately, my mom was admitted to the hospital on June 28th, with severe pains in her abdomen. While there, my mom had to have emergency surgery to remove a large mass from her colon. 

That large mass was sent to pathology to see if it was cancerous. When the results came back, we learned that my mom had  been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hepatic Cancer with Metastasis and Andeocarcinoma Colon Cancer. 

She will have to have a PET Scan to determine how far the cancer has metastasized, considering the doctor found a spot on her liver, as well as her lung. This will also determine what type of chemotherapy treatments she will require. 

Due of her unavailability to work for the medical training of which she was required to attend for my dad, nor receiving any funds from the short-term disability (which was denied), and now her diagnosis (this diagnosis has her now being unable to work for at least another 12+ months), my parents are now in jeopardy of losing electricity and water, which both are required for my dad‘s dialysis machine. As well as potentially being evicted from their home. 

My mom has lost her health and life insurance, due to her not receiving any financial assistance from her job or elsewhere. 

My mom is the strongest person I know. Hearing the weakness in her voice and seeing it when she tried to move around, is terrifying. I’m scared for my parents. I feel as if I am going to lose them and they are still so young. My dad is 65 and my mom 60 years young. 

Please someone, anyone and everyone. Please help my parents so they don’t lose what they’ve worked so hard to gain.
