My name is Cyn Bagley and I have Stage five kidney disease, which means I spend 8 hours a night on a peritoneal dialysis machine. I've been playing the dialysis game for over two years. I am waiting for a kidney and need to keep healthy. No, I am not asking for a kidney.

When I was much younger, I used to ballroom dance. I had learned the watz, swing, and cha-cha, but life seemed to get in the way when I joined the Navy and later married. Plus getting a chronic illness seemed to put an end to my dreams of whirling around in a ballgown.

What changed is that recently I got a chance to take a few ballroom classes again. My body remembered how to follow and even some of the steps. I felt that deep joy that you get when you know you are doing something wonderful. I even hugged the poor man who was dancing with me.

I could tell you that dancing is good exercise and it works the entire body. I could tell you that the cardiovascular system works hard on the dance floor. I could tell you that as a senior woman, dancing makes you limber. These are all good reasons for dancing.

I would love to get back in shape and feel the joy of moving, but I need your help. Will you help me to keep dancing?

Plus if I dance, I will also be healthy enough for that kidney in the future.
