A few weeks ago, weeks after my routine yearly exam, I got a call out of the blue telling me about my upcoming appointment with a specialist. I had no idea I needed a specialist, but apparently, I do.

I showed up for the appointment but there were some problems with my insurance so nothing got done at that time, but I did find out some information.

It seems they suspect I have a "rare blood disease"-- whatever that means. (I'm not going into more details because I don't want to encourage speculation and well-meaning diagnoses.) Specialized blood tests and a scan are needed to rule other things out. I was told that's "not cheap".

So I need help paying the deductible. Anything extra I raise-- if any-- will go for buying the 12.5 gallons of gas it will take to get me to the office and back however many times I end up having to go.
