I’m a lifelong patient, surviving high doses of antibiotics before I was big enough to undergo biuretral valve reimplantation before turning three, The next big hurdle was brain surgery at age 16 in Broca’s Area to bring my focal seizures under control. In between these major surgeries, I had some minor ones, including an adenoidectomy, rhinoplasty and a few minor stitches and procedures. Blessed to be free of seizures after brain surgery, I successfully got a college degree, able to work a few years before my pain levels drastically increased. This was due to scar tissue expansion in my brain and pre-op orthodontal work to prepare for medically-necessary maxillofacial reconstruction. I’d planned to prepare for this procedure shortly after college, but I had to postpone preparations, needing to work very hard to keep my job after graduating in May of 2001. The pain endured before my jaw reconstruction made maintaining employment impossible, most especially after reasonable accommodations were denied, causing me to lose my job. I was approved for disability income, but the stress had triggered some additional medical conditions, including multiple spine conditions, fibromyalgia, CFS, SLE, RA and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis along with an assortment of minor orthopedic, osteopathic, gynecological, dermatological and gastrointestinal conditions. After these conditions were effectively managed, I got approval to return to work, even after the stress I faced when my house was struck by lightning in the Summer of 2019. With COVID vaccination mandates, I knew that most employers required vaccinations, so I got vaccinated. But my Pfizer Vax injury in 2021 led me back to a poor state of health, losing my job yet again. 

Working or not, I was able to continue my neuroscience studies. Even through these trials, I was blessed to increase my knowledge of various medical specialties. I continued my efforts to help stand up for the rights of the disabled and parents of disabled children.

I’m blessed to be alive and have always loved serving others, so asking for help has required a lot of humility!
