I am suing the Washington state Department of Natural Resources, along with Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz and several other executives, for violating my Constitutional rights of speech and association. In 2021, my managers at DNR demanded I stop interviewing doctors and scientists on my podcast they said "undermined" agency Covid policies - or face termination. These interviews were done on my personal time, using my personal equipment, and I never referenced my position as a Communications Specialist at DNR. I refused to comply, and explained my First Amendment right to continue my work as an independent journalist - work that DNR was fully aware I did when I was hired. Our freedom to speak is given to us by God - not the government. After 13 years as a journalist in TV news, I remain committed to seeking truth wherever it leads, and I am unwilling to remain silent in the face of increasing government encroachment on this sacred liberty.
