Escaping the Afghanistan Matrix: A War for Freedom and a Future

I’m Ali Leon, and this isn’t merely a fundraiser — it’s my heart, exposed, a soul trying to free itself from bondage. So I’m writing to you, wherever you are, because I think you might feel the same kind of fire in your chest: the refusal to allow a broken system to define your life.

I’m from Afghanistan, a country where war and oppression crush dreams beneath concrete and fear. The Matrix here is not simply metaphorical — it’s a suffocating reality run by the Islamic Emriate of Afghanistan (IEA/Taleban) that crushes hope, silences voices and punishes anyone who dares to rise. I’ve been living life under bullets, hiding from danger, doing my best to bury the weight of a world that wanted me small, quiet and broken. The sound of bombs filled the air every night, and it reminded me: freedom is not given — it’s taken. I have been fighting for mine since I was a child.

But having big dreams made me a target. If I stayed in Afghanistan this month, I would be killed, so I left for Iran with nothing but hope in my heart. Here, as an Afghan refugee, I am an outsider, someone who doesn’t belong. Jobs are hard to come by, scrapping is a way of life, and I’m alone — just me against a system that seems designed to keep me under. I have spent days and nights wondering if tomorrow will come.” And yet, amid all of this agony I hold this vision: a way out, not just for me, but all of us who are stuck like I am.

That vision is called Crypto Corner Shop — my rebellion against the Matrix. It’s a platform I created from scratch, typing through the night on a laptop, learning it all myself: blockchain, dev, UI/UX; and all while the world around me was collapsing. It is a place where everyone, everywhere, can launch an online store in minutes, pay via crypto payments (decentralized finance is easiest here), and be free of banks, taxes, or control. It’s for the people who want to dream—the woman in Nigeria selling her art, the man in Venezuela forging a tomorrow, the student in Iran sharing her music without fearing she’ll lose everything. With every line of code, I’m fighting for them, for us, for a world where we don’t just have to be cogs in someone else’s machine.

But right now, this is not about the platform — this is about me, and I’m drowning. I’m struggling to keep going, to keep my dream alive, to not be living a meaningful life where I can express my talents best, is a  further march to surrender. I can’t do it alone anymore and wish to be reunited with my younger brother and business partner Jacob —also an Afghani refugee now living in the United States. 

Along with my tenacious effort, you are the one who can help liberate me and find me a safe place to be and live, breathe, and to continue building this movement without the fear of everything going away tomorrow.
