Each child is 1 in a Million, but sadly, far too many of them don't see their unique value. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young people in the United States.

Suicide rates are higher among teens who have experienced violence, including child abuse, bullying, or sexual violence. Rates are lower among teens who feel connected to their family and supported by their community. Go for the Gold and Sports World are committed to helping teens realize their value and potential by providing resources to support them and helping them learn to make positive life choices.

Go for the Gold is a 501c3 non-profit. For over 20 years, we have been providing high-school students with the support they need to develop skills for healthy relationships, set healthy boundaries to keep themselves safe, and deal with bullying. We help to prevent suicides by connecting teens to resources that help them cope with mental health issues, substance addiction, abuse, and sexual violence. We teach students to avoid crisis situations by speaking up about their needs and seeking help. The Go for the Gold program is overseen and directed by an independently licensed Marriage and Family therapist with 30 years of experience.

Sports World is 501c3 non-profit that helps youth learn to make positive choices. Over the last 44 years, Sports World has impacted over 23 million youth. In the last 10 years our program has helped to diffuse an average of 175 youth suicides each year. Sports World sends professional athletes into public schools as positive role models. Our school-based programs help students recognize the consequences of their choices and equip them to overcome depression, bullying, and abuse that can lead to suicidal ideation. We help students understand that “You’re not born a Winner; You’re not born a Loser; You’re born a CHOOSER.”

Every dollar raised through this campaign will be used to help Go for the Gold and Sports World reach many more students through our resource networks, school assemblies, and mentoring programs.
