On November 11, 2021 in the early evening our family and community lost who we all lovingly refer to as, 'the mayor'. His sudden passing left us all in shock. Rich Stephany no doubt left us with an endless river of stories to hold and share. For the most part everyone who knew him will attest to the fact that he would be there in a heartbeat if you needed him.
He knew just about everyone, which means each has memories and stories to tell about his journey here on earth. Although one might say he had many years left, those who knew him know, he lived as he wanted during those years and as my son Ben pointed out, "maybe not exactly the way he wanted, but he sure didn't do anything he didn't want to do!". He enjoyed many, many, many adventures with family and friends. Rich could sometimes butt heads with people as well, his tongue was equally tame as he. Still, at the end of the day, with dirty hands and worn boots he'd give you the shirt off his back; Most would not deny this.
His wild side, impulsiveness, helping heart, antics, laugh and love will live on in spirit and memories with so many here on Earth. Unfortunately with his sudden passing, it will be financially trying for some time to come. His home still holds his wife Kathleen and daughter Alicia, as well as his grandson Odin. We all know Rich was a greatly talented Arborist.....'tree guy' and he has left big boots to fill. Alicia, his first born daughter, would like to step in those boots and do her best to honor her father and keep the business going that her father and mother built. They know it won't be easy and it will come with adversity. It is my hope that their challenge will make Rich smile down on them with pride and they will have great success.
Both Alicia and Faith are very hard workers and go-getters like their father. They are tough girls with broken hearts after the loss of their father. With support of others, they can and WILL get through the muddy waters, the rocky trails and find a clear path to put all of the pieces back together again and let the light shine bright again.
There has been a great outpouring of love, kind words, thoughts and prayers. Many have sent meals and at this time their refrigerators and freezers are overflowing. All of the flowers are beautiful too. We appreciate the kindness and support shown so far. At the moment, service arrangements have not been finalized, it will however be the way Rich would have wanted it and we will keep you all posted.
As you remember Rich, I ask you to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers, including his mother and two brothers. In lieu of continued flowers or meals, please consider contributing any amount your heart leads you to. Between the expenses associated with his passing and the efforts to continue his business, your help would be immensely appreciated. I'd also like to ask, when you have a moment......(or an hour), please write down or video yourself telling a... or many stories you have to share with his family. This would be a precious gift for his daughters and grandson to keep and cherish. Thank you to each and every person who has taken the time to reach out, in any way.
