On Monday, August 30th, Brevard County Public Schools called an emergency meeting to discuss reinstating mask mandates for Pre-K through 12th grade students. The board voted 3-2 to mandate masks on children without a parental opt out option.
As a result, parental rights have been violated and laws broken when school board officials ignored a state Executive Order and knowingly voted illegally to mandate masks on our children. These elected officials are not above the law, and should be held accountable for the illegal and immoral actions they chose to make. Parents have a fundamental right to direct the upbringing, education and health care of our minor children. Under the Parental Bill of Rights, it explicitly states that parents have the right to make healthcare decisions for our children, which means we decide whether our children should or should not wear a mask for 6 to 8 hours per day during school hours.
In response to these blatant violations and overreach of power displayed by the Brevard County School Board, parents in Brevard County with the help of Moms for Liberty - Brevard, FL will be retaining legal counsel to file an injunction against the Brevard County School Board. The funds raised will go toward legal counsel to file an immediate injunction against the School Board’s policy. This will be one of many lawsuits taking place against multiple districts across the state of Florida.
While DeSantis’ appeal goes through the legislative process, parents can fight back and sue the district showing multiple instances of significant harm done by this policy.
We are asking for your contributions toward retaining an attorney in any amount that you can spare. No amount is too small.
