Hi! We are the Martin family. We are hoping you can help us build a house in Mexico.
We are missionaries in La Mision Baja Mexico. We are Christian missionaries and serve from Tijuana to Ensenada. We are passionate about the gospel, evangelism, the arts, and mental health. We teach dance and guitar at orphanages, safe homes for children removed from human trafficking, small communities including our own, free day cares and a ministry for women at risk of human trafficking in the red light district of Tijuana. We also have doctorates of theology in christian counseling so we also do biblical counseling online for those far away and in our home for local people. We do all these things for free to the people we serve.
We have lived in La Mision for 8 years and finally we were able to purchase a piece of property and closed this last month! Now, the next step is to put a permanent home on the property. After much prayer and consideration we decided that, rather then having the ministry we work for Morning by Morning Ministries filter funds for our house build, we would like to do this on our own. The future of religious non-profits in the United States is tenuious at the current time and we want to make sure that we can stay in Mexico to continue serving the people we have come to love and the place we call home. Should the government start having issues with religious non-profits there is a high chance that our home, should the ministry own it, be taken by the government. This may seem a bit reactionary but we have seen things the past few years that really made us consider taking this route and feel it the best course.
This is where you come in. Over the last 15 or so years we have managed to save enough money through our personal endeavors to purchase the property and start the project but not enough to finish it or honestly even get half way. We have enough to get the land ready and the slab poured but that is it. We need a home that can double as a place for ministry. We teach out of our home in many cases and all of our counseling is done out of our home. We would also like to host people in our home and not have to put them on the floor to sleep.
We are looking to build a modest two bedroom, two bath with office / guest bedroom. We have the plans, have spoken to contractors and we have found all the ways corners can be cut to do this in the cheapest manner possible. We are ready to start but lack the funds.
If you have any questions at all we would love to answer them for you so feel free to reach out. We hope that you will consider supporting us in this endeavor so that we can better serve the people of Mexico and be settled in the community.
