“I can do all things…”

For the past decade, Joshua has been passing on sage advice to his friends and anyone in need. He turned to the Apostle Paul’s writing in Philippians 4:13 and used it to encourage others saying, “YOU can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!” As a 2020 graduate of Victory Christian Academy, Joshua took those words with him throughout his schooling and continued with them as he accepted a position as a youth counselor at Highland Park Church of the Nazarene.

Now more than ever, Josh could use those words of encouragement and prayer. He was given a diagnosis of colon/rectal cancer on December 14. He is no longer able to work and has been going through some excruciating testing to be followed with a treatment plan. He and his family are believing for a miracle.

If you would like to assist with the family’s financial burden, any donation through Give, Send, Go would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to medical costs and related expenses his family incurs.

On behalf of the Butler family, I extend gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers and support shown over the past couple weeks and undoubtedly, in the months to come.

Together, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!

First off I want to thank everyone on our Facebook page that has posted so many encouraging words and for those who are fervently praying for us and especially Joshua. This page brings us so much joy and strength everyday.

This week has been a little rough for Joshua. He started feeling the after effects of radiation early this week. Thursday night he felt really bad. The home health nurse came in an assessed him and in conclusion they feel he has a respiratory infection. They gave him a COVID test to rule that out. We get the results Monday. This caused him to feel much weaker.

We are asking for everyone to pray specifically for the medications to help open up his lungs, loosen the phlegm, and for him to have the strength to cough it up and out. Due to the cells that were invading his lower spine he has had weakness in his legs and sciatic nerve pain. We are praying for God to complete the healing in his spine and restore his vertebra and for a full recovery for him to be able to walk again. We are praising our way through our Victory and we know that you are standing and praising with us.

Mark’s endoscopy went well. No cancer or cancerous cells.PTL!! The girls both go for an endoscopy this week and Sarah’s surgery is scheduled for the end of this month. We are expecting great things.
God bless you and thank you for loving our family and lifting us up and supporting us in so many ways.

We rejoice today Joshua finished his last radiation treatment. Now we wait for results to see what the next step is. We also rejoice today because we had our first appointment with Sarah's surgeon and found out that he is a Christian and he asked if he could pray with us at the end of the consultation. We are so thankful for God's footsteps leading us in this journey and we are so grateful for all the love and support and prayers that you guys have offered up to us. Even though this seems like we are in the valley of the shadow of death like the scripture says we fear no evil because his rod and his staff is with us to comfort us.

12-30-2020 Praise!

This week, with the help of some very awesome people (I call them angels), we were able to find an Oncologist at Moffitt who specializes in what Joshua needs. This is a huge blessing! We are also able to change our insurance to be able to be treated at Moffitt which was another answer to prayer. Keep the prayers and encouraging words coming.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the financial gifts, prayers, love, and support. We feel the family of God wrapping us in their love. ~Marcia

Joshua was diagnosed with FAP (a rare disease). Here's a link to help you understand more of what it is: https://www.stjude.org/disease/familial-adenomatous-polyposis.html?fbclid=IwAR0d3B04nbm87LtVfh0gR7xtooMtCohtQ_L8ptmN4ZfP1R5QF7BD_eSoasQ

Update #1
December 29, 2020
facebook twitter

First of on behalf of our family I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all the love, support, prayers and encouraging words that you have shown to Joshua and us. We are overwhelmed with joy and we have felt every single prayer.

Today we met with the oncologist to learn the results of the PET scan and talk about the treatment plan. As a praise report, we can tell you that the nodules in his lungs and liver are not cancerous! PTL!! That means he is not at stage 4

Prayer focus now is treatment plan. Because they diagnosed him with FAP (a rare disease) he can't be treated at Hollis. He needs an oncologist specialist. So we are looking into other locations like Tampa, Gainesville, or possibly out of state. Ultimately we are believing for God's continuing healing in Joshua's body and a miracle report. Until then we are asking God to lead, guide, and direct us. We are leaning not on our own understanding. Trusting in the Lord and allowing HIM to direct our path.

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will walk Joshua's Journey hand and hand with you. We will all witness the glory of God. God bless you. Hugs (( )) from us. Marcia
