J.Kye’el Martinez whom we call Kye'el is a very Dedicated, Driven and Faithful young man. At a very young age Kye wanted to be a professional Basketball player. His sense of humour and heart of gold would brigthen up anyone’s day and life. Since the age of 8, he started to play AAU ( Amateur Athletic Union ) Basketball league. Hard work and commitment continued in his drive and amateur success. However, Kye'el had to experience much adversities with his health, passing of both grandparents within 2 years and becoming a young father 2 days before his High School Graduation. When he found out he was going to be a father, he put his dreams aside to be a father and hopefully a husband. But unfortunately, teenage love sometimes crumble under the weight of adult responsibilities. All of these life events transpired from 2017 to 2020. Nonetheless, Kye’el grduated with a 3.4 GPA

His faith was tested and self esteem faded tremendously. Kye'el begin to feel as if his future was very small as his main focus was being a good supportive father to his newly son. Kye’el then realized his son future and life depends on his present and future. Coming to the reality he needed to continue to believe and have faith. Kye’el was accepted into Chowan University on a partial Basketball scholarship with a major in Criminal Justice where he will pursue a career as an FBI Agent if all else fails.

Both his parents, Karen and Juan dedicate their lives to their 3 children. Both sacrifing to financially pay for college tuition and life expenses. Their belief is his education is most important and the gateway to his future career as they both understand the chances of becoming a professional athlete.

Kye’el continues his education, working full time and raising his now 2 year old son. He also volunteers at Raleigh Recreation with youth basketball when time permits. With increased commitment and dedication, Kye’el continued to work hard in school and on the court. He received an invite to try out for FIBA International U.S Basketball U20 team. And with great excitement, he made the team! This is an amazingly once in a lifetime expereience for not his exposure but to represent the U.S.

Kye’el and his family needs financially help with this once in a lifetime experience. With your financial blessings, he will be able to again represent his county and continue on his path to his dream career. Making the team, he will be away 7 weeks beginning January 2022 traveling to many countries such as Australia, S.Korea, Japan, Mali, Puerto Rico, France, Senegal, Serbia, Argentina, Canada, Turkey, Spain, Latvia and Iran.

Please help us make this a reality for him!
