Hi, everyone!  I'm starting this fund for my dear friend Barbie because man, oh man, has she been through it the last few years.  She's been in a Crohn's flare for several YEARS now and had surgery that was SUPPOSED TO fix the issue.  Instead, the surgeon messed it up, gave her a permanent stoma, and left a lot of the diseased tissue in there which has resulted in continued pain.

Like 15 on a scale of 1 to 10 pain.  And she's had this level of pain for over three years.  Can you even imagine?

One thing about Barbie, though, is her absolute unshakable faith in God and how He is going to work this situation for good.  He's shown her time and again.  And this time is no different.

She's found a new surgeon who is putting together a team to address this horrible first surgery, one who is going to do everything they can to turn "Stella the Stoma" into "Jacques the J-Pouch" and give her some normalcy back in her life.  And hopefully, most importantly, get her out of pain.

Throughout all of this, Barbie's lost her employment.  She's got long-term disability insurance, but that only pays half of her previous income.  She's single, lives alone, and has to be able to pay for rent, utilities, food, medication, ostomy supplies, health insurance, copays, car expenses, car insurance, etc., etc.  We all know that even when we cut our lives down to the basics, we still have expenses that we must find a way to pay.  And Barbie is no exception.  What we're asking for is simple:  Let's help her fund the next two months of living so she can have her surgery and so the disability payments can kick in.

Barbie will be receiving any payments from this directly.  We're going to set this up so that it goes to her bank account and not mine, so please know anything you donate will go straight to her.  I'm just the one setting this up and telling the story initially.  She'll be here to bring you updates later once I've turned over the reins to this entirely to her.

Hebrews 13:15-16  Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.  And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
John 15:12  My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

We are instructed throughout the Bible to operate in love, to care for one another, to take care of each other, to be the hands and feet of Christ.  So I'm asking you now to come together as one loving community of Christians and support Barbie as she navigates this season of difficulty in her life.  We have faith that God will bless all of you who heed his commandments to love and we have faith that God has begun a good work in this situation and that it will come to fruition.

God bless you all.

Everyone, Barbie is back in the hospital with a raging infection.  Please pray for her healing, for guidance of her medical staff, and also for her financial situation which is very precarious this month.  Thank you for caring for her!

Hi friends. Would appreciate your prayers. My surgery is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, however, I have been running a fever and cannot keep anything down at all. Very weak. Please pray I’ll get some strength back so this can happen. Love you all very much.

Update #4 10/23/20 from Northside Hospital

Hi friends. I wanted to share the news that I’ll be having the next surgery & piece to this puzzle of mine this coming Monday or Tuesday. This is a true answer to prayer on so many levels & Im so thankful to God! Otherwise I would have been here for 4-6 weeks just waiting due to the other complications. I’m beyond thankful. My surgeon reminded me, however, that this is VERY much a serious surgery in and of itself, and that’s the reason they normally wait the extra time in between the surgeries. (My Mom actually had to wait about a year between her surgeries.) But the tests yesterday made my Dr. more than comfortable that it’s safe to proceed. There’s an approximately 12 week recovery time after this one. Please continue to pray for me —- your prayers, love, and encouragement have kept me going all this time and I mean that. Life has been very overwhelming and it’s great to have friends who love you and lighten your load. I love all of you so much, too.

Update #3 10-21-20 from Northside Hospital

Short update today. The ostomy system that they tried and had good hopes for, projectiled all over my room earlier this morning. The only choice remaining is for Dr Ambroze to go in and do an exploratory procedure either tomorrow or Friday & go in & see how much the j-pouch has healed. Normal time between surgeries is 6 to 8 weeks. He will check things out. If it’s healed enough, he will get surgery scheduled within the next few days (not counting weekends.) He said we are going to have to have to go back to the drawing board as what to do with the surrent situation. I trust in God. I do and I believe He can heal me in a moment. It’s in these times between the believing and the not happening that are extremely hard right now and I’m feeling very troubled. Let me be clear..I’m not doubting. I’m just very, tired and exhausted & trying to process all this. Back soon. ❤️

Update #2 from Northside Hospital

Hi everyone. Just a little update on me. The sweet ostomy nurses here have been working every day on a solution that will get me through until my next surgery in 4 to 5 weeks, but we’ve run into a ton of issues. There’s no talk of when they’ll even consider sending me home because I just have to be able to take care of myself & right now I can’t. I’m also still having a bunch of pain. Thank y’all so much for praying & thinking of me. I’m in the best & only place for me right now, but I gotta tell you I miss daylight & being able to see my friends. Praying that I heal & they can get things figured out. Love y’all very much & hope you are well. Thank you so much for thinking of me.

Everyone, Barbie is back in the hospital with a raging infection.  She has what amounts to chemical burns on her stomach and torso from the stomach acid as well.  She's in pain, she's scared, and she needs us now.

Please pray for her healing, for guidance of her medical staff, and also for her financial situation which is very precarious this month.  Thank you for caring for her!

Her Facebook post:
Hi everyone. I wanted to thank you for your prayers for me. I’m back at Northside - room 7244. Shortly after I was discharged, I developed infections and have what amounts to chemical burns all over my skin due to the stomach acid running all over it and an inability to even keep an ostomy bag on. They are working very hard to get my skin stabilized and the infections under control. I can’t say enough good things about the ostomy nurses here. They spent three hours doing their best to work out a solution for me to get my skin stable and figure out what to do moving forward. They are keeping me sedated with pain meds as much as possible. I have never had pain like this. Please pray that my body will heal and that the nurses/Drs will have wisdom what to do. Please also pray that I’ll be able to stay in here as long as possible. And for my finances right now. There is absolutely no way I can care for myself with things like this - just no way. Please also pray that I’ll be able to relax a bit. I am so scared right now. Love you all.
