Typhoon Ambo (international name Vongfong) slammed into Eastern Samar Island in the Philippines at the township of San Policarpo packing 100 - 120 mph winds on May 14, 2020.
The storm severely damaged or destroyed every single one of the churches I visit, in addition to the damage it inflicted on other structures and residents’ homes. To complicate the situation, residents are in lock-down due to COVID-19. Nevertheless, they must rebuild their homes and churches after Ambo.
Approximately $10,000 is needed to finish repairing the seven damaged churches alone. But this is outside the scope of emergency disaster relief organizations, and beyond the ability of local residents who can barely earn enough to meet their daily needs.
God has blessed and provided abundantly to support our teaching mission in the area. However, the damage to these seven churches greatly exceeds our available resources.
The cost of restoration is not burdensome if we all join together as one family. Imagine! Just 100 generous Christians could meet the need If each donated $100.
To some families in Eastern Samar $100 is a month’s salary. Here in America, it may purchase a nice dinner for the family at a mid-priced restaurant. Surely we have the ability to meet the needs of our Filipino brothers and sisters if we all contributed a little.
Will you help? Will you provide funds toward typhoon Ambo reconstruction?
Thank you and God bless!
