This summer June 2021 my daughter Monique and her husband Adrian were delighted to spread the news of expecting baby #2. Their first daughter is a girl and of course we were all so excited to find out the gender of baby #2. We scheduled an Ultrasound on August 15th, 2021. We found out on that day, baby #2 was going to be another girl. They already had her name picked out, Mia Valentina Perez. How excited dad was to pick a name for his new baby daughter with the initials, MVP (most valuable player). On August 17, Monique received a call from her doctor. He called to inquire if Monique had recently visited an ultrasound clinic. Monique confirmed she went on Sunday to find out the gender. Her doctor said, the clinic called us and said that we should schedule an immediate ultrasound because they saw something that was concerning. An ultrasound was scheduled the next morning. A night of worry and no sleep confirmed something was seriously wrong.
Mia was diagnosed with Anencephaly. Anencephaly happens when most of the brain and the back of the skull is absent. Anencephaly has a 100% mortality rate. Which means, Mia will go to heaven immediately after she is born. Both Monique and Adrian have remarkable faith in God and the only option considered was to let Mia grow in Monique’s belly until it is time to say goodbye. Mia's due date is February 4th, 2022, but she will be scheduled to be born the first week of January 2022.
We are asking for donations for the funeral expenses for Baby Mia. These unexpected events are almost never expected and are a financial hardship for such a young couple. If you can please find it in your heart to help them out, they would appreciate any amount that you are willing to spare. Also, even if you’re not able to donate, please keep Monique and Adrian and our family in your prayers. These are difficult times, and we can use your prayers. Thank you.
