Hi, my name is Adelina, and I really want to help our neighbor and friend Dawn go to her college graduation on November 4th.
I know how important this is to her and when she lost her full time job without warning a month ago (becasue she didn't want to be vaccinated), she did her best to work everything out, but she used the money she saved to go to graduation to pay the bills and her car payment. I can tell that she's worried. She told me that if she didn't get her unemployment money in time, she wouldn't be able to go to her graduation. She had to send in a lot of paperwork and is waiting for them to send her the money, but she is worried about missing her graduation.
Dawn has worked so hard and has been looking forward to this day for two years. I want her to get to graduate in New Hampshire at Southern New Hampshire University. She has made a lot of sacrifices to go to college. She told her kids that it was going to be hard, that she wanted to go back to school so she could take care of them without having to worry about money anymore.
While she was in school, she worked two jobs and was a full time mom. Her youngest son wanted to play soccer, and she couldn't afford to pay the fee, so even though she didn't have a lot of time, she voluenteered to coach his team so he could play for free.
She worked six days a week so she had to do her schoolwork really late at night after she got the kids to bed, and all day every Sunday becasue Sunday was her only day off.
She even gave up time that she usually did schoolwork to take the kids to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago becasue they really needed some time with her, then she stayed up all night doing her work. She was often exhausted but she said she realized how hard had been on the kids, so she wanted to show them that they were still her priority.
Dawn worked hard enough to graduate with honors and even got a perfect score on her Criminal Justice Capstone project. Her committment and dedication to her education and to her children is easily seen to all who know her.
She excelled academically, and was invited to take the steps to be inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, she did that and earned three additional honors certifications in leadership too.
As I spoke with her children, they told me of their concerns for her. I called her to ask about her travel plans and graduation. She told me she has been waiting for unemployment but has noot received anything yet. She still works at her part-time job, but only works a few days a week.
Dawn shared that she needed $940.00 for the non-refundable hotel room that she booked before she lost her full-time job. She has to pay for it when she gets there. She needs money for gas and for food too. We are trying to raise $1600 for her if we can. That would pay for her hotel, gas, food and she wouldn't have to worry about travel expenses becasue she will be there for 5 days. It may even alievate some of the stress she's feeling as she awaits the receipt of her unemployment benefit.
We are all very proud of her and feel that she deserves to go to graduation. We know that we need to raise this money for her in the next 7 days, and don't know if it even possible, but pray that the money will be provided for her to go.
She is a First Generation college graduate too!
One of her favorite verses is Joshua 1:9 it says "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I've known Dawn for many years, and have watched her diligently work through this educational journey. Her kids told me that their mom "is one of the strongest people they know, and they hope she'll get to graduate." It's clear that they love her very much.
Will you please consider helping to give her this gift?
