Harper has a disease called CCL (cranial cruciate ligament), it is sort of like an ACL tear in humans. She has had a tear in her left leg since she was about three, but it wasn't that debilitating until this past week when she tore the other knee. For about a week she was in horrible pain, limping and lethargic! I took her to see the surgeon at the SPCA and he did give her pain medicine to help alleviate the pain; however, he recommended surgery. I had forgone surgery when it was just one leg; however, Dr. Dorian said that every step she takes is painful and it was only going to worsen as the arthritis gets worse. Harper is a very energetic dog who would probably play even if her leg was falling off, but she is getting older and I want her to be able to play and babysit for as long as possible. It tears at my heart to see her trying to keep up with her friends when she is in so much obvious pain! Dr. Dorian said that even if I only get one leg fixed, it would go a long way in helping her stay active! The surgery I want to have done is called TPLO (Tibia Plateau Leveling Osteotomy). It is the more expensive surgery he does, but it also has the most success rate and does more to actually fix her leg than the other surgery. Harper is such a sweet and loving girl who loves babysitting Milo and Bo and running around playing with her stuffed animals. I want her to be able to have a good life for as long as possible, but this surgery isn't cheap! I would be so grateful for any help anyone could give! Thank you!!
