Building A Better District is a non-partisan community movement that emerged through the collaboration of parents and taxpayers, all deeply invested in the promise of high-quality, taxpayer-funded education in CCUSD 301. Our goals are simple:
We are not an anti-tax or anti-referendum effort! Building A Better District supports appropriate tax investments for high-value returns on education in our community. However, the current plan on the ballot for March 2024 to build a new high school is not supported by need or statistical data, will result in millions of dollars a year in unbudgeted operational expenditures that will fall to taxpayers, and fails to address the greatest need in District 301 - space in our elementary schools. We must VOTE NO to this current plan so we can regroup, commission an independent enrollment forecast and facilities master plan, and conduct thorough community engagement to develop a more considered plan for future facilities that we can VOTE YES to.. in the future.
In the meantime, we need your help NOW to ensure a NO vote in the upcoming election. Your donation will fund yard signs, advertisements in print and media, and as much exposure as our budget will allow to advocate for a NO vote in the upcoming election. 100% of your donation will be used towards these materials, advertisements, and the costs of operating our website; we have NO paid staff. Whether you can afford to give $5 or $50, we truly appreciate your support of Building A Better District!
