My son, Christopher Nienhuis, is fighting for his life—not just in court, but against a system that has already stacked the odds against him.

Christopher was the victim of a brutal attack by a mob of white aggressors. In a desperate act of self-defense, he protected himself—yet because one of the attackers was the son of an Ellis County Sheriff’s deputy, my family has since been targeted with death threats, intimidation, and harassment.

This is not an isolated event. My family has a long history of mistreatment, discrimination, and harassment from the Midlothian Police Department, the Midlothian Independent School District, and now the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.

It’s hard not to see this as a vendetta—whether rooted in race, power, or personal bias. Either way, my family is being victimized by the very institutions sworn to protect us.

Christopher deserves justice. He deserves fairness. He deserves the right to defend himself without being criminalized for surviving.
